Community members in the West Midlands recently welcomed representatives from Women’s Aid to their local forum to speak about the work that they are doing in the local community and beyond. Community runs a successful national campaign that supplies toiletries to vulnerable women and children across the UK known as the ‘Love U’ project, and Community has recently donated a large number of ‘Love U’ toiletry bags to the Women’s Aid Hereford office.
Speaking on behalf of Women’s Aid, regional lead Sue Colman said “The donations from Community have been very gratefully received. When women report to our refuges they often have very little, in some cases they don’t even have shoes on their feet. This campaign goes some way to address that.”

Regional activist and Love U co-founder Jan Bownes said “I am so glad that Community has pulled together and supported women in need, the Love You campaign was set up by Carol Hodgson and myself and it is wonderful to see how branches have engaged with this. Long may it continue.”
