This Saturday, 30th June will be Armed Forces Day, and today, 27th June is Reserves Day. To mark these occasions, Community has signed the Armed Forces Covenant.
This significant step is as a sign of the union’s support for its members and their families who are part of the armed forces community.
Community has veterans and serving reservists amongst its lay membership and also within its staff. The union joins more than 2,500 businesses and organisations across the country who have already signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant.
Roy Rickhuss, Community’s General Secretary, said:
“We are delighted to pledge our commitment to the armed forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
“By making this public statement, we commit to the fair treatment armed forces personnel, veterans, reservists and their families, in all dealings with Community.
“Community has veterans amongst its membership and staff, as well as serving reservists. Signing this covenant opportunity allows us to recognise their important contributions both to our union and our country.
“Community has always proudly supported the armed forces, but I am glad that today we have formalised that support, so that all serving personnel and veterans know that Community is on their side.”
