Seven Community work representatives from XPO Logistics have just celebrated completing the TUC union representative stage one course. This accreditation provides elected reps with the skills and confidence necessary to support members and build a better workplace for all.
During the training course, reps will learn crucial skills such as working together with members and other Community reps, talking to members and dealing with their issues, recruiting members and getting them involved in growing Community, meeting management to find solutions to issues at work and keeping members informed about our national campaigns. The course also provided an opportunity to meet reps from other sectors of the union.
Sarah Peterson, one of Community’s reps at XPO, said “Having a fully trained rep team will ensure our reps at XPO have the expertise and knowledge needed to provide members with a greater service. We can also help guide the other reps who have yet to complete the training to provide a stronger united team.”
Steve McCool, Community’s National Officer for Education said “It’s great to see a group of new reps come through our training. Community will continue to offer quality training to activists and elected representatives across the union to ensure that our members receive the representation expected from a modern union.”
