Community members stand up to cancer

14th November 2018

“This demonstrates exactly what the committee is meant to achieve…”

The trade union Community recently supported a local fundraising effort by a steelworks in Wolverhampton to raise money for 3 cancer charities.

Community offered £500 from its regional charity fund to help Believers, an organisation that raise money for cancer charities Compton Hospice, Lingen Davis Centre and St. Agatha’s Trust. Community members within Tata Plates & Profiles, a steelworks in Wednesfield, took part in various fundraising activities including a 10k run to further support the work of Believers.

Speaking after the charity event in which Community Branch Secretary Kevin Faulkner personally presented the cheque, Regional Secretary for Community in the Midlands Gavin Miller said “This donation demonstrates exactly what the regional charity committee is meant to achieve.

“Kevin has supported a worthy local cause with the support of his branch and his union and I would congratulate both Kevin and all who have contributed towards his fundraising, we are proud to support the admirable charity work in all of our branches.”

We support causes that our members care about across the UK every day. If you want us in your corner, you can join Community by clicking here.
