Community member puts his boots to the ground for a great cause

Community - 7th December 2018

“Terry has always worked hard to support his colleagues in work, now it’s our time to support him…”

A steelworker, with the support of his trade union Community, has walked over 186 miles across the Welsh coast in aid of an epilepsy charity.

Terry Lowndes from Port Talbot in Wales has so far raised over £3,500 with donations still pouring in, including £250 from Community’s regional charity fund.

Speaking after the cheque presentation, Terry said “The support from everyone has been tremendous, my friends in Community have all been incredibly selfless in their donations.

“It’s heart-warming that people still give so generously and that they had the faith in me to complete this journey. Epilepsy Wales does such great work in supporting adults and children with epilepsy, they raise awareness, dispel stigma and discrimination and support people living with this unpredictable condition.”

Regional Organiser for Community Wales Alun Davies said “Terry has been a long standing and valuable member of Community as well as a good friend and his story needs recognition for what he has achieved. Terry has always worked hard to support his colleagues in work, now it’s our time to support him.

Terry’s JustGiving page is still open for anyone who wishes to donate.
