Community supports disability work experience charity

13th August 2018

“We look forward to hearing about all of the amazing causes our donations will support.”

A charity based in Clacton on Sea has recently received a donation supporting their operation from the trade union, Community.

Sailship, an organisation that offers work experience to disabled workers, recently fell victim to fire damage to a part of their property that provides income for the charity to operate. The repair cost has been calculated at £1,000, so efforts are now underway to raise the necessary funds.

Vice Chair of Community’s Justice Sector committee Nick Hunt applied to the Regional Charity fund, and was successful in his application, meaning he was able to support the efforts of the charity.

Speaking after the cheque presentation, Community Midland’s regional team said:

“It’s great to hear that Nick’s donation has made a difference to the charity, they do great work teaching the local community about wildlife and how to grow local produce.

“Alongside this project, we have helped a Community rep install a defibrillator at a cricket club, provided indoor toys for schoolchildren, renovated a local swimming pool and many more great projects.

“We hope our members continue to apply to this fund, and we look forward to hearing about all of the amazing causes our donations will support.”
