Community fun day shows largest attendance yet

20th August 2019

“A great day for us all to get together in support of a good cause, it seems to grow every year…”

Retired members of the Community Wales region recently held their annual family fundraiser day at Port Talbot Cricket Club to support local charities.

This yearly event brings people together to celebrate community spirit and raise money.

Community Branch Secretary John Tetsill said after the event: “Everyone had a great time! It was a great day for us all to get together in support of a good cause and it seems to grow every year. We received great support from the regional staff, Union Lawyers and Age Concern who set up stalls and spent some time offering free advice and guidance to those who attended.

MP for Aberavon Stephen Kinnock came along for a burger and a chat

“The weather this year was beautiful and with the music, Mandy’s burgers and bouncy castle the day couldn’t have gone better. We also ran the usual charity raffle and gave away some great prizes. Despite this year’s overwhelming success, I’m sure we will be able to improve once again for next year and achieve an even larger turnout.

“I would like to express my thanks to everyone that chipped in and I’m already looking forward to next year!”

Community regularly offers donations to support great initiatives at work and in the community.
