Betfred must give workers what they’re owed

Community - 16th September 2019

“We stand ready to take action to ensure our members get what they are owed.”

The betting shop workers’ trade union, Community, is calling on Betfred to ensure that its employees are given what they are owed in holiday pay. The Guardian covered the issue today, reporting that the company was waiting on employees highlighting any errors and claiming for any loss.

Tom Blenkinsop, Operations Director for Community, said:

“Some of our members at Betfred have made us aware of this issue and we are looking into the matter and offering support to Betfred workers. Betfred workers shouldn’t be treated this way and this is the latest example of why the company should engage more with Community as the union for betting shop workers.

“We hope Betfred will take the necessary steps to resolve the issue as soon as possible, without the need to go down a potentially costly legal route. But we stand ready to take action to ensure our members get what they are owed.”

Community represents workers in all the major betting shop chains and many independents.
