Save Our Steel

Community is running a major national campaign seeking support for the UK steel industry. ‘Save our Steel’ is a campaign that brings together union members, community groups & local businesses from across the country.

Our campaign

This campaign is not just about steelworkers. Without a vibrant steel industry we will not have vibrant manufacturing and construction industries. Steel is a vital foundation industry on which the UK economy is built.

Communities across the UK have steel at their heart. The steel industry has provided peace of mind to generations of steelworkers and their families. But now the industry is under threat.

Community, the steelworkers’ union, is campaigning to Save our Steel.

Below you can find the latest news about our campaign.

Save our Steel supporters

Sports teams and community groups have been showing their support for the Save Our Steel campaign.

So far Rotherham United, Swansea City, the Ospreys, Cardiff Blues, the Scarlets, Tranmere Rovers & Cardiff City have joined community & youth teams to back steel workers in their fight to save their jobs and their industry.

The great breadth of support shows just how important the steel industry is to everyone and how the plants form an integral part of the local community.
